Many thanks to Isabella from Silverton Oregon for sending in her question. She asked is making steak marinade from scratch healthy? Homemade steak marinade can be extremely healthy, or they can lean towards the unhealthy side, it just depends on what you make them with. A healthy steak marinade example, would be one consisting of extra virgin olive oil, fresh herbs and spices, lemon juice, no salt, and some ginger and sliced onions. An unhealthy steak marinade would probably taste the best, however it would have lots of sugar, salt, and other ingredients that should only be consumed in moderation. I generally eat very healthy during the week days, but on Sunday's I like to grill up a thick beef steak, and then smother it with marinade containing lots of sugar and salt. I don't consider this practice to particularly unhealthy, as I don't over consume these types of steaks, it's really just my weekend treat.
